The Hazardous Materials Response Team: 1.Detectsthepresenceof,andidentifiesassociatedchemicalandphysicalpropertiesof,HAZMATand WMDsubstances 2.Identifiesandestablishescontrolzones 3.Containsandmitigatessolid,liquid,gas,andvaporleaksthroughinterventionssuchasneutralization,plugging,andpatching 4.Usesstandardprotocolstocollectandlabelsubstancesandevidenceinpreparationfortransportation 5.Interpretsreadingsfromradiationdetectiondevicesandconductsgeographicalsurveystosearchforsuspectedcontaminationorradiologicalsources 6.Takesactiontolimitexposureandcontainthespreadofcontamination 7.Conductsresearchrelatedto HAZMATand WMDtocontributetothe Incident Action Plan(IAP) 8.Developspredictivemodelstoinformprotectiveactionsandsupportthe IAP
