The Stillwater/Flood SARTechnician: Basicgroundsupportforhelicopteroperationsincludessafetyawarenessand 1.Performssearch,rescueandrecoveryactivitiesinthefollowingsettings: Landing Zone(LZ)knowledge. a.Waterenvironmentsincludingstillwaterandstillwater/flood b.Shore,waterandboat-basedrescueoperations c.Situationsinvolvinghumanoranimalrescue 2.Providesmedicalcareforself,teammembersandsurvivors,including Basic Life Support(BLS)forothers 3.Reportstoa Stillwater/Flood SARTeam Leader 4.Operateswithinthe Incident Command System(ICS),inanentry-levelposition withinthe Stillwater/Flood SARTeam 5.Ensuressafetyofselfandteammembers 6.Providesbasicgroundsupportforhelicopteroperations 7.Coordinateswithgroundvehicles,watercraftandaircraftforsupport, transportationandevacuation 8.Operatesinenvironmentswithandwithoutinfrastructure,includingenvironments: a.Affectedbydisastersandterrorism b.Withdisruptedaccesstoroadways,utilitiesandtransportation c.Withlimitedaccesstoshelter,foodandwater
Training Requirements
Completionofthefollowing: Not Specified 1.Trainingoutlinedforthe NIMSType2Land SARTechnician 2.National Fire Protection Association(NFPA),ASTMInternational(ASTM)or equivalentwater-based SARtrainingprogramthatthe Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ)hasverifiedandthatcoversthefollowingposition-specificskillsandaptitudes: a.Swiftwaterrescueawareness b.Nighttimewater SARoperations c.Searchmethodsinstillwaterandstillwater/floodenvironments d.Waterrescuescenemanagementanddynamicriskassessment e.Basicboathandlingwithpaddleandropesystems f.Specializedrescueequipment g.Extricationtechniques h.Animalhazardsandsafetyprotocols i.Use,care,inspectionandmaintenanceofrelated Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)tools,devicesandequipmentspecifictothisposition
Experience
1.Completionof Stillwater/Flood SARTechnician Position Task Book(PTB),or NFPA1006:Standardfor Technical Rescue Personnel Professional Qualifications equivalent AHJdocumentation,includingthefollowingtasks: and NFPA1670:Standardon Operationsand Trainingfor Technical Searchand a.Understandsearchproceduresinthewaterenvironment Rescue Incidentsaddressadditionalknowledge,skillsandabilitiesthatapplytothis b.Demonstrateswimmingandmaneuveringskills position. c.Understandandapplyrelevantrescuetechniques,including Talk,Reach,Throw, Row,Towand Helicopter d.Demonstrateriggingandoperatingofropesystems e.Demonstrateawarenessoffloodingandassociatedhazardsandtheirimpacton medicalproblemsassociatedwithwater f.Identifyandexplainthehazardsandimplicationsofentrapment g.Identifyandexplainthehazardsanddifficultiesofworkingindarknessand reduced-visibilityconditions,andexplainhowtoapplysuitablecontrolmeasures 2.Abilitytocarryoutthefollowing: a.Rescueproceduresinastillwaterandstillwater/floodenvironmentduringdayand nightoperations b.Roperescue c.Waterrescue
