The Swiftwater/Flood SARTechnician: Basicgroundsupportforhelicopteroperationsincludessafetyawarenessand 1.Performssearch,rescueandrecoveryactivitiesinthefollowingsettings: Landing Zone(LZ)knowledge. a.Waterenvironmentsincludingswiftwaterandswiftwater/flood b.Shore,waterandboat-basedrescueoperations c.Situationsinvolvinghumanoranimalrescue 2.Providesmedicalcareforself,teammembersandsurvivors,including Basic Life Support(BLS)forothers 3.Reportstoa Swiftwater/Flood SARTeam Leader 4.Operateswithinthe Incident Command System(ICS),inanentry-levelposition withinthe Swiftwater/Flood SARTeam 5.Ensuressafetyofselfandteammembers 6.Providesbasicgroundsupportforhelicopteroperations 7.Coordinateswithgroundvehicles,watercraftandaircraftforsupport, transportationandevacuation 8.Operatesinenvironmentswithandwithoutinfrastructure,includingenvironments: a.Affectedbydisastersandterrorism b.Withdisruptedaccesstoroadways,utilitiesandtransportation c.Withlimitedaccesstoshelter,foodandwater
Training Requirements

Experience
1.Completionof Swiftwater/Flood SARTechnician Position Task Book(PTB),or NFPA1006:Standardfor Technical Rescue Personnel Professional Qualifications equivalent AHJdocumentation,includingthefollowingtasks: and NFPA1670:Standardon Operationsand Trainingfor Technical Searchand a.Demonstrateaworkingknowledgeofhydrologyandassociatedhazards, Rescue Incidentsaddressadditionalknowledge,skillsandabilitiesthatapplytothis includingtherecognitionofwaterfeaturesandtheirimpact position. b.Understandsearchproceduresinthewaterenvironment c.Demonstrateswimmingandmaneuveringskills d.Understandferryangleconcepts e.Understandandapplyrelevantrescuetechniques,including Talk,Reach,Throw, Row,Go/Towand Helicopter f.Demonstrateriggingandoperatingofropesystems g.Demonstrateawarenessoffloodingandassociatedhazardsandtheirimpacton medicalproblemsassociatedwithwater h.Identifyandexplainthehazardsandimplicationsofentrapment i.Understandcharacteristics,medicalissues,extricationtechniquesand contaminationissuesforlocks,sluices,irrigationditchesandlow-headdams j.Understandcharacteristics,design/hydrologyandspecificrescuetechniquesfor vehiclesandobjects(strainers)inwater k.Demonstrateknowledgeofbehavior,hydrology,accessandstabilization techniquesrelatedtohelicopters l.Identifyandexplainthehazardsanddifficultiesofworkingindarknessand reduced-visibilityconditions,andexplainhowtoapplysuitablecontrolmeasures 2.Abilitytocarryoutthefollowing: a.Rescueproceduresinaswiftwaterandswiftwater/floodenvironmentduringday and
