The Swiftwater/Flood SARTechnician–Boat Operator: Not Specified 1.Operatestheboat,providesdirectiontothe Swiftwater/Flood SARTechnician– Boat Bowmanandisultimatelyresponsibleforallaspectsofboatoperations 2.Performssearch,rescueandrecoveryactivitiesinthefollowingsettings: a.Waterenvironmentsincludingswiftwaterandswiftwater/flood b.Shore,waterandboat-basedrescueoperations c.Situationsinvolvinghumanorcompanionanimalrescue 3.Providesmedicalcareforself,teammembersandsurvivors,including Basic Life Support(BLS)forothers 4.Operateswithinthe Incident Command System(ICS),inaspecializedposition withinthe Swiftwater/Flood SARTeam 5.Ensuressafetyofselfandteammembers 6.Coordinateswithgroundvehicles,watercraftandaircraftforsupport, transportationandevacuation 7.Operatesinenvironmentswithandwithoutinfrastructure,includingenvironments: a.Affectedbydisastersandterrorism b.Withdisruptedaccesstoroadways,utilitiesandtransportation c.Withlimitedaccesstoshelter,foodandwater

Completionofthefollowing: Not Specified 1.Trainingoutlinedforthe NIMSSwiftwater/Flood SARTechnician–Boat Bowman 2.National Fire Protection Association(NFPA),ASTMInternational(ASTM)or equivalentswiftwater SARtrainingprogramthatthe Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ)hasverifiedandthatcoversthefollowingposition-specificskillsandaptitudes: a.Jobperformanceguidelinesasoutlinedin NFPA1006:Standardfor Technical Rescue Personnel Professional Qualifications,orequivalent b.Nightoperations c.Use,care,inspectionandmaintenanceof Personal Protective Equipment(PPE) tools,devicesandequipmentspecifictothisposition d.Useof GPS,mapsandcompass;navigationonwater e.Low-headdamrescueoperations f.Boathandlingskillsinswiftwater/floodsituations g.Maneuveringskillsinswiftwater,includingrunningwiththeflow,movingaftover ground,makingpowerturnsandclosing/bearingaway h.SARoperationsfrompoweredcraft i.AHJ-approvedboatersafetycourse

Completionof Swiftwater/Flood SARTechnician–Boat Operator Position Task Book NFPA1006:Standardfor Technical Rescue Personnel Professional Qualifications (PTB),orequivalent AHJdocumentation and NFPA1670:Standardon Operationsand Trainingfor Technical Searchand Rescue Incidentsaddressadditionalknowledge,skillsandabilitiesthatapplytothis position.
